Iron Springs Elementary School is seeking a Part Time Special Education Assistant to work 27.5 Hours per week. This position will remain open until filled.
The Part Time Special Education Assistant works under general supervision of the school Principal and school Special Education Educators, this employee will assist and support the special education process at the school. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, varied IEP file tasks, contact with students, parents, and others, and exercising considerable independence and judgment in performing their tasks.
Creates and manages timelines to meet compliance requirements
Manages timelines with relevant staff members
Collects and compiles student data, ensuring student privacy is maintained
Writes and edits various types of documents, including procedural documentation
Creates or works with graphic designers to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding reports
Creates and manages the special education calendar of meetings
Ensures meeting calendar meets relevant deadlines
Sets up meetings, communicates with all attendees
Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google docs, Embrace, and check email frequently.
Must be willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed.
Answers and screens telephone calls to provide information, take messages, or transfer calls.
Locates and attaches appropriate files to correspondence when needed.
Coordinates and arranges meetings, prepares agendas, reserves and prepares facilities, and records and transcribes minutes of meetings.
Designs and organizes filing systems; acts as custodian of records.
Assists students, as necessary, with emergency, medical, hygienic, and illness issues by reviewing and following medical record information, administering minor first aid, and contacting parents or professional medical personnel.
Maintains and prepares information needed for Special Education File Compliance
Obtains student IEP information by calling other schools, professional agencies, and parents to request necessary and pertinent information.
Studies new regulations and applies them in preparing reports and maintaining records.
Creates and maintains database and spreadsheet files.
Assists with compiling and filing student Individual Education Plan files
Assists in IEP file compliance to ensure deadlines are met and files meet requirements of IDEA.
Assists in composing or transcribing from rough draft correspondence, bulletins, memorandums, and other material.
Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance is required
