High School Counselor

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This job primarily operates within the school environment. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, and exchange information with faculty, students, and visitors. Regularly required to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, and assess details as needed to complete job functions. Regularly required to remain stationary. Regularly required to move around office and locations as needed. Ability to position self as needed in line with safety guidelines to complete tasks. Ability to move, transport, position, put, install, and remove items up to 50 pounds as needed. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time salaried position, contracted for 148 days between July and May. Employee will typically work ten hours per day Monday through Thursday, excluding non-contracted break periods. Employee may need to work extended hours. Required Education and Experience One of the following: Completion of a graduate program in guidance and counseling from an accredited institution; -OR- Completion of a graduate program counseling, social work, or psychology from an accredited institution; -OR- A valid license as an associate counselor, professional counselor, master or clinical social worker, or marriage and family therapist issued by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners; -OR- Completion of a graduate program in academic advising from an accredited institution. Preferred Education and Experience One of the following: Practicum: Completion of a supervised counseling practicum in school counseling from an accredited institution; -OR- School Counseling Experience: Verification of two years of full-time experience as a school counselor; - OR Teaching Experience: Verification of three years of full-time teaching experience. Required Certifications/Licenses Standard School Counselor, PreK-12 Certificate issued by the Arizona Department of Education Work Authorization/Security Clearance Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
