Description
The STEM Lab Instructional Assistant supports the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) curriculum by assisting general education teachers in the implementation of hands-on activities and projects. This role includes preparing materials, guiding students during lab sessions, and ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment. The instructional assistant will foster students' curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM subjects.
Salary: $37,380-$58,440 (Based on Relevant years of verified experience)

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience working with elementary school students, preferably in a STEM-related capacity.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with basic computer software and familiarity with STEM-related tools and technology.
- Enthusiasm for STEM subjects and a passion for fostering a love of learning in students.
Performance Responsibilities
- Works in partnership with classroom teachers in developing, planning, conducting lab activities and evaluating S.T.E.M. lab activities and experiments.
- Prepare and organize instructional materials and equipment for lab sessions.
- Support students during lab activities, ensuring they understand instructions and use materials safely and correctly.
- Monitor student progress and provide individualized assistance as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized lab environment, ensuring all equipment is properly stored and in good working condition.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement innovative STEM projects and activities.
- Supervise students to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
- Assist with the assessment of student performance and provide feedback to the classroom teacher.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with STEM education trends and best practices.
- Incorporate family engagement activities.
- Maintain inventory of S.T.E.M. Lab equipment.
- Assists in setup of activities, breakdown, and storing of materials after completion of activities.
- Manage a computer lab, performing without direct supervision various duties including enrolling students, maintaining records, operating and ensuring the maintenance of computers, troubleshooting computer problems and maintaining a clean and orderly facility.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the lead teacher or school administration.
Physical Requirements
- Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telphone and to enter data into a computer.
- See and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
- Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone.
- Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Physical agility to lift 25 pounds and the ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead.
- Some teaching specialties (i.e., music, art, physical education, etc.) may require hearing, vision, and physical coordination and/or exertion and effort more than those listed above.

Terms of Employment
Contract Length – Ten Months
FLSA Status-Exempt
Salary to be established by the School Board in accordance with the Classified Salary Scale (Tech Lab Asst.)
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of School Board policy.
