Job Title:  Behavior SPED Paraprofessional
(FLSA: Non - Exempt)
Minimum Qualifications and Training

  • Highly Qualified Status 
    ESEA guidelines require that paraprofessionals (educational assistants) who provide instructional services must have fulfilled one of the following to meet the highly qualified requirements 
  • Obtained an associate's or higher degree; or 
  • Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education; or 
  • Passed a test that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics 
  • Two years of experience working with children 
  • Strong verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills 
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships in schools and other environments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate or acceptable
  • Maintain Current Crisis Prevention (CPI) and Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification 
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Works collaboratively with Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Academic and Behavior Interventionists, ESE Executive Director and Coordinators, teachers and paraprofessionals to improve fidelity of behavior intervention strategies
  • Demonstrates behavioral principles and assists school staff with their use
  • Maintains daily log of activities
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Observe and collect data pertaining to behavior
  • Implementation of behavior intervention strategies
  • Model behavior intervention strategies for school staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned by ESE District Office Team or Superintendent
Working Conditions: Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable.
Standard office environment.
