Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts (SLSPA) is a fully accredited, tuition-free public charter high school located in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Students in grades 9 through 12 receive training in Music, Theatre, and Dance while completing all necessary high school graduation requirements.

Job Description: We seek a Musical Theatre and Acting Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The successful candidate will teach all levels of acting and musical theatre and direct the Theatre Conservatory. The administration will assign other specialized classes, which may include arts exploration, playwriting, directing, movement for the actor, and theatre history.

Responsibilities include: Directing the Utah High School Shakespeare Festival Company, which attends the Shakespeare Competition in Cedar City, Utah;

Directing the all-school musical, which competes at the Utah High School Musical Theatre Competition;

Preparing students for regional and state competitions;

Organizing and preparing students to attend the Utah Theatre Association Festival.

Create and supervise a season of shows and various showcases.

Develop and implement a dynamic and engaging curriculum in musical theatre and acting

Create lesson plans that cater to a range of skill levels, from beginners to advanced students.

Incorporate a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.

Collaborate with other faculty and staff on production elements such as set design, costumes, lighting, and sound.

Mentor students, offering guidance on their artistic and academic growth.

Prepare students for college auditions and professional opportunities.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance progress.

Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration.

Assist with budgeting and managing resources for theatre productions.
