Our vibrant performing arts high school seeks a passionate and experienced Technical Theatre Teacher/Director to join our team. This unique position encompasses teaching Woodworking I/II, Stage Craft I, Stage Craft II, and Stage Crew and the pivotal role of technical director for a full season of theatrical, dance, and musical productions.

Responsibilities: Teach four classes covering Stage Crew, Stage Craft I & II, and Woodworking I/II.

Provide comprehensive technical direction for a full season of productions, including overseeing all lighting, sound, set construction, and stage management aspects.

Collaborate closely with fellow faculty members to seamlessly integrate technical elements into each production's overarching artistic vision.

Mentor and supervise students during after-school and Saturday work sessions, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of technical elements throughout rehearsals and performances.

Manage and maintain technical equipment, facilities, and inventory to ensure optimal functionality.

Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that cultivates creativity, collaboration, and skill development among students.

Discuss technical needs and expectations with the show director, encompassing lighting, audio, video, staging, and more.

Liaise with the technical staff of rental venues to ascertain available equipment and coordinate necessary load-ins for shows.

Plan and schedule all aspects of productions, including load-ins, technical rehearsals, run-of-show, and load-outs, while creating light plots, sound plots, and coordinating tech student involvement.

Coordinate load-ins with rental venue staff, confirming equipment responsibilities and ensuring proper setup of technical elements such as lighting, sound, projection, and scenery.

Conduct thorough testing of all technical elements prior to the first technical rehearsal to ensure operational readiness.

Supervise and support tech students operating equipment throughout the duration of performances.

Oversee the efficient load-out process post-show, ensuring the restoration of any venue changes and the return of borrowed equipment/scenery.
