Description

At Indian River Charter High School, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Spanish teacher who is passionate about empowering students through language, culture, and meaningful learning experiences. The ideal candidate is not only proficient in Spanish but also deeply committed to student engagement, classroom autonomy, and fostering a positive learning environment where students take ownership of their growth. Key Responsibilities: Inspire & Engage Students in Language & Culture Develop and implement dynamic, interactive, and student-driven lesson plans aligned with Florida Standards for Spanish. Foster a positive and encouraging classroom atmosphere that celebrates language learning and cultural appreciation. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technology to create immersive learning experiences that spark curiosity and enthusiasm. Empower Student Autonomy & Growth Provide individualized support through one-on-one meetings, parent communication, and personalized guidance to help students succeed. Encourage students to take an active role in their language learning journey, developing confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, ensuring all students feel challenged and supported. Create a Collaborative & Inclusive Classroom Culture Foster a respectful and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks with language. Promote collaboration and cultural exploration, allowing students to connect with global perspectives through discussions, projects, and activities. Set clear expectations for behavior and academic performance while reinforcing a strong work ethic and a growth mindset. Assess & Support Student Progress Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress, provide meaningful feedback, and adjust instruction accordingly. Celebrate student achievements and encourage perseverance in mastering a second language. Engage with the School Community Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school-wide initiatives to enhance teaching practices and curriculum. Get involved in extracurricular activities, cultural events, and community programs that enrich the student experience. Actively support and contribute to the mission and values of Indian River Charter High School, fostering a sense of belonging and school pride.
