Elementary Assistant Principal Position

Summary/Objective Assist the Principal in the administration of instructional leadership to staff including: curriculum planning, review and implementation; and professional development. Responsible for day-to-day building administration and the safety and welfare of students, staff and activities. Ensure a safe, pleasant and effective educational atmosphere.

Competencies Ability to apply knowledge of business and management principals involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human capital utilization, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources. Ability to apply knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Ability to apply knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, and corrective action. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Ability to work through complex problems, evaluate options, and implement solutions. Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal form. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Supervisory Responsibility In conjunction with the school principal, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Regularly required to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, and exchange information with faculty, students, and visitors. Regularly required to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, and assess details as needed to complete job functions. Regularly required to remain stationary, type, and focus on a computer screen for long periods of time. Ability to move, transport, position, put, install, and remove items up to 10 pounds as needed. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, exempt position, contracted for 164 days. Incumbent may regularly work extended hours in the performance of duties.
