2023-2024 Assistant Principal - Middle School

Position Summary:

The position is responsible for assisting the school administrative team in the leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school program and operation.

   Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in education, preferably in the area of educational leadership and administration

• Virginia Department of Education Postgraduate Professional License for School Administration, valid out-of-state license, or immediate eligibility for Virginia licensure with administrative endorsement

• Considerable administrative and teaching experience (preferably at the secondary level)

• Ability to establish effective working relationships within a diverse student, parent and school community

• Ability to prepare written evaluations and other reports as required by federal, state and local guidelines

• Ability to direct the work of others

Responsibilities:

• Assist the administrative team in developing and maintaining an effective educational program consistent with State and Federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies and goals of the School Board; meeting and conferring with students, parents, faculty and staff; maintaining records and files; preparing reports. 

• Assist the team in the overall administration of the school; interpret and enforce school and school division policies and regulations. 

• Support the administrative team for Continuous Improvement.  

• Assist in monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local mandates and guidelines related to local and state testing programs and the local special education program.   

• Assist in the reporting and monitoring of student attendance.  

• Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body.

• Maintain and model high standards of professionalism.

• Performs other duties as assigned by the school administrator.

• 21st CCLC after school program.

Physical Requirements:      Average amount of climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing,  walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions required.
