Job Description The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an enjoyable and gratifying employment opportunity with our agency. We are looking for a caring and motivated Transition Teacher for the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing, located in Salt Lake at the JMS Campus.
Principal Duties As a Teacher you will: -Provide appropriate programming for deaf/hard-of-hearing students focusing on Transition courses and Career and Technical Education courses. -Plans learning experiences utilizing school curricula, IEP goals and objectives, and other appropriate materials and activities. -Develops lesson plans and uses a variety of assessment techniques that incorporate the Utah State Core Curriculum, adapts curriculum to meet individual student needs, and utilizes effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences for a wide range of students’ needs. -Create an inclusive classroom environment using individualized instruction (academics, language, behavioral) to assist students with varying needs. -Ability to understand and use current technology and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction and experience. -Collaborate and communicate frequently with families and staff regarding student progress and needs. -Work closely with other secondary teachers for lesson planning. -Collect data and provide assessments to develop and complete students IEP in a timely manner and implement IEPs. -Work collaboratively with related services providers for language planning and needs of individual students.
