BRAILLIST TECHNICIAN
 
 
Location: Tucson Campus
Employee Status: Limited Time Appointment
Hours Per Week: 40
Work Calendar: 10-Month
Pay Rate: $15.19
Other: No Braille Required to Start - We will train!
Experience with computers and software programs. Driver’s License and Travel required.

 
CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION

CLASS SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Blind Programs, transcribe and adapt a variety of instructional materials into alternate media format such as Braille, Nemeth code, tactile graphics, maps, 3D printed objects for students with visual impairments.ents.
 
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma
  • Experience with computer software programs for word processing, editing, drawing, printing
  • Participation and completion in a designated braille production program, such as that available through the Library of Congress, or equivalent as approved by ASDB for the development of individual skills, measure of competency and certification eligibility.
 
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to pass FBI and State background check
  • Defensive Driver Training Program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on State business
 
KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Knowledge technology, multimedia and software applications
  • Knowledge of English usage, punctuation, spelling and grammar
  • Knowledge of interpersonal skills using tact, patience, courtesy
 
DEMONSTRATED SKILL/ABILITY TO:
  • Skill in formatting materials
  • Skill in English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Skill in planning, organization and time management
  • Skill in maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technological skills and equipment
  • Ability to operate a variety of computerized equipment
  • Ability to work with other personnel such as teachers and support staff in the schools
  • Ability to work as part of a team
