Please note: The Commonwealth Governor’s School is a regional program between Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford Counties for gifted and highly motivated students. This position is currently employed through Spotsylvania County Public Schools as they are the regional program fiscal agent. If the fiscal agent were to change to another county in the future, then the employer of record would change to the county assuming the responsibilities as new fiscal agent.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: To perform varied and complex technology-related duties and tasks; technology liaison between regional program and participating divisions; and assist The Commonwealth Governor's School Director in implementation of technology related services across the multi-site program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience in the management of network technology.
2. Ability to maintain existing technology structures and repair or upgrade systems as necessary.
3 Advanced oral and written communications skills.
4. Effective public relations skills.
5. Comprehensive knowledge of technology terminology, procedures, and equipment.
6. Extensive experience (5+ years) in the IT field.
7. Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
8. Ability to maintain confidential information.
9. A bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree, a high school diploma, OR GED AND special certificates and an emphasis in network technology and engineering with appropriate years of experience in the field, which enhances the employee’s ability to perform job duties
REPORTS TO: The Commonwealth Governor’s School Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Videoconferencing
- Maintenance of classroom multimedia systems and equipment, including Computers, Laptops, Microphones, Cameras, Speakers, and other A/V equipment.
- Develop procedures and processes to proactively maintain complex classroom A/V and control systems.
- Attend appropriate hardware and software training classes as needed.
- Assist in creating LMS templates and implementation (Blackboard and Canvas).
- Provide guidance and assistance with online mediums (Zoom, Dropbox, Google).
- Support and schedule classroom and personal lecture capture (Zoom).
- Provide A/V system training and support for faculty and staff, including the creation of tutorials and end user documentation.
- Develop and encourage best practices regarding the use of A/V technology.
- Analyze installed A/V systems for ease of operation and effectiveness and make recommendations for upgrading or replacing systems and equipment.
- Stay abreast of trends in A/V technology and integrate appropriately to ensure excellence in instructional, conference, and collaboration spaces.
- Analyze functional and performance issues associated with use of A/V technology, collaborate with peers on possible solutions and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Oversee the installation of new and refreshed systems to verify proper connectivity and functionality by A/V vendors. Troubleshoot installation and create a punch list of issues as needed.
- Develop, implement and/or coordinate processes for the regular maintenance, replacement, upgrade and standardization of A/V technology.
- Identify and advise on emerging technology setups, testing and verification of the solutions.
Computers, Servers, and Networks
- Experience with Windows Client/Server OS, Microsoft Office, TCP/IP.
- Ability to operate, install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain personal computer hardware.
- Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of all computers and peripherals.
- Install and configure various operating systems and education software.
- Familiarity with Network cabling and the associated hardware.
- Perform network administration on the local area networks.
- Install and configure various operating systems and education software.
- Work with school personnel in choosing software and hardware that is technically viable with respect to the division.
Security
- Monitor security procedures and making sure that best practices are implemented and followed.
- Authorize permissions and individual access to technology applications or services for the purpose of ensuring proper access to technology systems by staff, students, parents and others consistent with operating guidelines and regulations.
- Network and server security procedure changes.
- Understand and support cyber security through the hardening of the network infrastructure.
- Manage directory systems such Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Maintain the firewall, switch infrastructure and wireless systems.
- Implement and support network security, identify necessary network improvements, and work with district technology leaders to implement improvements.
Leadership
- Setting a vision and strategy for how technology related infrastructure will be used.
- Ensure that technological resources meet the short and long-term needs.
- Create timelines for the development and deployment of all technological services.
- Recommending and make decisions on technological requirements.
- Assist with technology budget and time frames.
- Ensuring all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards.

Contract: This is a 12-month position with benefits; Salary Range: $81,308 - $112,371
