Description
Summary: The Adult Education Career Readiness ParaProfessional will prepare the adult learner for work-based learning (WBL) experiences and the world of work by facilitating interview skills, application/resume support, workplace tours, career speakers, and credentialing. This position helps the adult learner to develop the communication and engagement skills to effectively connect with future employers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Connect adult learners to career opportunities based on individual interests/skills and coordinate work-based learning opportunities for them off campus
- Assist adult learners with job search, resumes, applications and interviewing skills
- Promote and manage requests to connect adult learners with employers and community mentors to provide meaningful WBL opportunities
- Collaborate with adult ed instructors to disseminate information on WBL programs and opportunities for adult learners
- Establish relationships with business and local workforce agencies for the purpose of increasing the number and quality of WBL experiences available to adult learners.
- Communicate regularly with all stakeholders.
- Assist adult learners with enrollment in CTE and Adult Education courses, post-secondary education, and apprenticeship opportunities
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills--as well as the ability to help students develop these skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff,and the business community--as well as the ability to help students develop these skills.
- Knowledge of current workforce/ employment demands and industry trends
- Knowledge of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs
- Planning and organizational skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to work with/ be a part of a team
- Ability to frequently travel to local business partners
- Ability to to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff and administrators to support an effective learning environment that includes both school-based and work-based settings.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community members
- Ability to maintain honesty and integrity in all aspects of the job

- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate person
Location: SCTC Night Adult Education
Salary: This would be an hourly employee, not to exceed 30 hours per week, with the hourly rate of $20.
Starting Date: This position is slated to start July 10, 2023 and run through May 31, 2024
