Director of Elementary Instruction
The Director of Elementary Instruction provides leadership and direction for the school division’s elementary instructional program, to include Title I, gifted education and English language learner programs. The Director of Elementary Instruction provides vision and leadership in developing and maintaining highly effective elementary educational programs and personnel to enhance student learning and achievement; including programs, personnel, resources, policies, operations and procedures related to curriculum and instruction.
Possess a Virginia Postgraduate Professional license with an endorsement in educational administration. Minimum of five years of successful teaching and at least 3 years as an elementary principal. Candidate must provide data demonstrating success of the instructional program under his/her leadership. The position requires outstanding personal and professional characteristics; dynamic and proven leadership; ability to work effectively with school personnel and members of the community; superior writing and speaking skills; knowledge of learning theory, program planning, curriculum development and management of instructional programs; knowledge of testing and the analysis of test scores; and knowledge of principles and concepts for continuous quality improvement in education.
Winchester Public Schools is comprised of one high school, one middle school, four elementary schools including a Pre-K program, and one alternative education program serving over 4,300 students, supported by approximately 700 full time employees. Winchester is situated in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, 65 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. Salary: Commensurate with experience. Range is $95,507-$126,733.
Workday: Full time/ 12 month/ 260 Days
