Description
The Director of Special Education is responsible to provide leadership in all matters that support excellence and accountability for special education and related services throughout Channing Hall. This includes program development, compliance with IDEA and other Federal and State laws, alignment with Channing Hall initiatives, and fiscal responsibility.
Essential Functions:
-Ensure compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) -Respond to concerns from parents, administrators, and staff regarding educational services to students with disabilities -Collaborate with state personnel, school staff, agencies, and parents -Provide general supervision of special education staff and related services providers -Responsible for State and Federal Special Education reporting -Prepares documentation and reports data for the purpose of providing written support, conveying information, and complying with Federal and State regulations. -Attend monthly State Office of Special Education meetings -Serves as school representative for IEP meetings as needed. -Update Special Education Rules and Regulations as necessary
