Description
Responsibilities: • Develop and manage a comprehensive school counseling program • Develops and maintains a written plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program • Maintains current and appropriate resources for education stakeholders • Uses the majority of time providing direct services such as responsive services, intervention, behavior response, character education, small groups
Guidance Program o Implements developmentally and appropriate prevention-oriented group activities to meet the student needs and school goals Individual Student Planning o Assists all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals, and plans o Accurately and appropriately interprets and utilizes student data o Collaborates with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational success
Preventive and Responsive Services o Provides individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs o Consults and collaborates effectively with parent/guardians, teachers, school leadership, and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified needs and concerns o Implements an effective referral and follow-up process o Accurately and appropriately uses assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual group counseling services o Provide behavior supports and plans
System Support o Assists teachers, parent/guardians and other stakeholders in interpreting and understanding student data o Participates in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills o Uses available technology resources to enhance the school counseling program o Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the counseling profession
Accountability o Collects and analyzes data to guide program direction o Monitors student academic performance, behavior, and attendance and assists with appropriate interventions
