Description

TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY ADMINISTRATOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or  university.

2. Valid Florida certification 

3. Expertise and experience in instructional technology

4. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with a variety of people in school and community settings. 

5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Director of Information Technology and Assistant Superintendent for Continuous Improvement and Operations.

JOB GOAL: To provide leadership and support to staff in the effective use of available and appropriate technology and media to support increased student achievement and staff productivity.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Implement the District’s philosophy of education and instructional program in accordance with District policies and administrative guidelines, Florida Department of Education Requirements, and provisions of State and Federal law.

  2. Provides guidance, vision, and direction in the effective integration of instructional technologies and media. 

  3. Oversees the development and integration of instructional technology and its impact on classroom instruction.

  4. Analyzes and uses available data to customize quarterly seminars and workshops in instructional technology and educational media for teachers and administration.

  5.  Plans and directs a system of feedback and assessment of instructional technology and educational media to determine responsiveness and effectiveness in meeting the needs of the district. 

  6.  Develops, manages and coordinates processes which support efficient distribution of district technology and media resources in a timely and cost efficient manner. 

  7. Coordinates with Curriculum and Instruction on the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) within classroom instruction.

  8. Coordinates with the Director of Information Technology in the development and implementation of the District Technology Plan and oversees and approves purchases of classroom technology.

  9. Coordinates with Curriculum and Instruction to provide a comprehensive instructional program that integrates technology to foster student achievement.

  10. Provides leadership regarding current trends, best practices and promising innovations in instructional technology and educational media. 

  11. Formulates and implements processes to support effective planning for appropriate use of available instructional technologies and educational media district-wide.

  12. Supervises and monitors District use of social media.

  13. Implements grant projects, including data gathering, and reporting to look for impact on teacher instruction and changes in student learning.

  14. Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month year.  Salary as established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be assessed annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on assessment of administrative personnel.
