EDUCATIONAL AUDIOLOGIST
 
 
Location:  Phoenix

Hours Per Week:  40
Work Calendar: 10- Month
Pay Rate: $58,925-$82,367

CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION
CLASS SUMMARY:
The Educational Audiologist routinely supports school age children 3 to 21 years of age and may also support children and families 0 to 3 years of age in the Early Childhood program as determined by the Regional Director or School Principal. The Educational Audiologist supports children with hearing loss, including those with additional disabilities, such as intellectual and/or physical challenges, by evaluating and monitoring level of hearing loss, diagnosing hearing disorders and making recommendations typically related to amplification of existent hearing aids or cochlear implants. The Audiologist will also evaluate, select, recommend, and fit Hearing Assistive Technology (HAT), as well as educate teachers, parents, and children regarding the management of hearing loss. The audiologist is considered an integral part of the IEP/IFSP team and consults with the team regarding students' hearing loss and necessary accommodations in the classroom or natural environment.
 
Travel may be required dependent upon position; overnight stays may also be required.
 
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in the area of habilitative/rehabilitative services with children.
 
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to pass FBI and State background check
  • Defensive Driver Training Program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on State business
  • Master’s or Doctorate in Audiology
  • Valid license or eligible to obtain license to practice Audiology in the State of Arizona
 
Preferred Qualifications -
  • Minor in education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, Speech Pathology, or Early Childhood Education
 
KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Knowledge of computer applications in Audiology
  • Knowledge of electro-physiological measures
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT, Access
  • Knowledge of Hearing Assistive Technology (HAT)
 
DEMONSTRATED SKILL/ABILITY TO:
  • Evidence of good interpersonal skills with adults and children
  • Independent and reliable means of transportation
  • Manual communication skills/fluent in Sign Language preferred
  • Ability to locate and train paraprofessional such as: an Audiology Test Assistant and/or Technician
  • Ability to become a certified ADHS Hearing Screening Trainer and organize training sessions as needed in your Regional Cooperative
  • Ability to make earmold impressions and conduct sound field testing on infants and toddlers as needed
