The license status must be active. Expired certifications will be considered.
Description
Salt Lake Academy High School is a free, public charter school which opened in the fall of 2017. This charter school serves grades 9-12 and is located in the Real Salt Lake training center in Herriman Utah. We have a unique learning environment with average student-to-teacher ratios of <20. Salt Lake Academy is designed for sports minded students who love academic performance. We strive to excel in both these areas and have seen excellent growth performance in both sports and academics over the last 4 years. Salt Lake Academy High School encourages students to choose their path of study through CTE Pathways, college preparatory classes, sport tracks, and a truly blended learning curriculum within a small, cohesive educational community. We are seeking a counselor who wants to be a part of transforming this school's unique academic and sports centered vision into a reality for our students.
Salaries for this position will be competitive with local salaries and based upon education and experience. A full benefits package will be offered as a part of the counselor's compensation. Duties that may be required would include, but not be limited to: evaluating students’ abilities and interests, identifying issues that affect school performance, helping students understand and overcome social or behavioral problems, counseling individuals and small groups on the basis of student and school needs, working with students to develop good academic skills, helping students create a plan to achieve academic and career goals, collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to help students succeed.
Salt Lake Academy has a Flex Friday program in which students are largely able to attend their Friday classes off campus. For the counselor, this generally allows half-days on Fridays!
