THEATER TECHNICIAN
 
Location: Tucson
Employee Status: Temporary  
Hours Per Week: As Needed
Work Calendar: 12-Month
Pay Rate: $20.00
Other: This position requires strong sound engineering skills.
 
CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION
CLASS SUMMARY
Set up and operate audio and video equipment including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards, and related electronic equipment for concerts, meetings and conventions, presentations, and other events as needed.
Set up and operate theatrical lighting equipment and systems for events. Provide additional technical support for PAC and activities and other agency activities. Act as an event manager for various events. Assist with facility maintenance.
Required to travel to various other locations around the state to provide technical support for agency events.
Position will be responsible for some or all of the listed duties and/or additional duties that occur form time to time.
 
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • College coursework or degree in theater arts or a related field;
  • Knowledge and operation experience with sound and
  • lighting systems; Knowledge and operation of video production systems; Experience with Event Management; sign language skills.
 
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to pass FBI and State background check
  • Defensive Driver Training Program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on State business
  • Must have a valid Arizona State Driver's License
 
KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Technical knowledge of sound and lighting systems; knowledge of operating computers, general theater technology, event management.
 
DEMONSTRATED SKILL/ABILITY TO:
  • Skill in theater technology
  • Skill in event management
  • Set up sound systems, Confer with producers, performers, and others to determine and achieve the desired sound for a production.
  • Set up lighting, Confer with producers, performers, and others to determine and achieve the desired lighting for an event.
  • Diagnose and resolve media, sound and lighting system problems.
