Teacher On Special Assignment (TOSA)
 
OVERVIEW: Together with the Principal, the Teacher on Assignment will be a member of the leadership team for our schools. In coordination with the Principal, the Teacher on Assignment serves as a support to students and teachers by proactively addressing student conduct, character education and school climate.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Possess a Master’s Degree in educational administration and supervision preferred.
· Possess a valid Arizona State teaching certificate or administrative certificate.
· Possess or is working towards a supervisory or administrative certificate preferred.
· Successful experience teaching in a multicultural setting.
· Successful experience working with at-risk youth.
· Successful experience working with parents and community members.
· Strong communication skills {orally and written} in English and Spanish preferred. SPECIFIC
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:
1. Develop and implement a student conduct and citizenship plan
2. Develop and implement a school climate plan
3. Lead and facilitate Student Conduct Committee
4. Plan and implement school climate events with student conduct committee
5. In collaboration with teachers, develop, implement and monitor individual student conduct contracts 6. Makes accommodations, when necessary, in order for students to be successful in school.
7. Collaborate with grade levels to set and monitor progress toward student conduct and school climate goals
8. Actively seeks positive parent-teacher relationships and attends all necessary meetings to ensure the child’s needs are being met.
9. Effectively communicate with parents regarding student conduct and citizenship
10. Understands and follows Policies and Procedures of the Governing Board as implemented and directed through its appointed administrators.
11. In cooperation with administrators and supervisory personnel recommends and assists, as required, in curriculum development and administrative structure change.
12. Develops an understanding of the local community and its educational needs. Brings the community and school together through appropriate programs.
13. Prepares and implements a system for gathering data regarding student conduct, attendance and behavioral progress. Prepares and submits reports containing data to the district administration.
14. Conduct certified evaluations.
15. Performs other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by the district and school administration.

REPORTS TO: Principal
SALARY: Certified Salary Schedule, Full Benefits
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten and half (10.5) month employee
