Description

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, plans, assigns and leads assigned staff in the maintenance and repair of Sunnyside Unified School District buildings, grounds, systems and aesthetics.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
Constructs, installs and modifies electrical services and circuits in accordance with prepared specifications and the national and local electrical codes; calculates loads, wire, and conduit size for installs; interprets blueprints and schematic diagrams related to electrical; inspects, tests and analyzes malfunctions of equipment and systems; troubleshoots, dismantles, remodels, repairs, reassembles and installs controllers, relays, sensors and switches on assigned equipment and systems; repairs, maintains and retrofits electrical systems, fire alarms, public address systems and telephone systems; repairs vandalism or storm damage to buildings and grounds.
 
Schedules construction projects and prioritizes and assigns work orders to assigned staff; supervises and reviews for accuracy the completed work of assigned staff and contractors; trains and instructs assigned staff in the performance of work duties; responds to calls for routine and emergency maintenance assistance or locksmith needs; communicates with district staff in the assessment and coordination of repairs; completes work order reports.
 
Performs preventative maintenance of assigned equipment and systems; repairs or finishes furniture; paints indoors and outdoors; assists with other trades maintenance activities; calculates amounts and places orders for construction project materials; contacts vendors according to procurement procedures; assist with bid quotes for venders; performs related duties as assigned.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
Knowledge of maintenance manuals, techniques and equipment.
Knowledge of electrical codes.
Knowledge of painting, carpentry, roofing, locksmith and/or welding techniques
Skill in the safe operation of power tools, hand tools, saws and other maintenance equipment.
Skill in reading blueprints.
Skill in supervising and delegating work and duties.
Skill in preparing reports.
Skill in following oral and written instructions.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent driving, standing, walking, bending and lifting. May be exposed to moving equipment and hand tools, extreme weather conditions, toxic fumes and chemicals, harmful dust and air particles and infectious diseases. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) years as a journeyman Electrician in the construction or maintenance field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must possess an Arizona driver license.
Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
 
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.

Salary Grade:  N          Hourly Pay:  $22.15          Hours per Day:  8          Days in Contract:  260   Start Date: 2023/2024 School Year
