Special Ed Speech Aide - CEC

PT SPECIAL EDUCATION SPEECH AIDE – CENTRAL COVE PRESCHOOL
(Up to 29.5 HOURS PER WEEK, VOUCHER POSITION, NO BENEFITS)

JOB SUMMARY:  The Speech Language Paraprofessional will work with both the general education and special education population with language disorders, articulation deficits, dysfluencies, and voice disorders under the direction of the Speech Language Pathologist.
 
District Expectations:
Under the Supervision of the Speech Language Pathologist/Technician, the Speech Language Paraprofessional will be an active participant in:

• Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement;
• Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments;
• Provides screening to identify speech and language disordered children at regular intervals and at specified levels;
• Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community;
• Provides appropriate individualized programs of services to meet individual students’ needs and correct existing speech or language delays;
• Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement services by suggestions for the student’s daily activities;
• Provides information and support to parents and families when appropriate;
• Data collection related to goal progression;
• Attend and participate in IEP meetings;
• Planning, providing, and documenting services;
• Other duties as assigned. 

 
Education/Experience:

• High School diploma/GED
• Must hold Associate’s degree or have 48 semester hours of college credit OR must have passed or be willing to pass the ParaPro test immediately upon hire.
