Must hold a license issued by Utah State Office of Education.
The license must be in one of the following types: School Social Worker (K-12) (Level 1), School Social Worker (K-12) (Level 2).
The license position area must be in one of the following areas: Crisis Intervention Specialist, School Psychologist.
The license must be in one of the following grades: 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
Description
The school social worker at AMES works with individual students who are referred by counselors, teachers, or parents. They work with families to provide services either in school or at home. The social worker sits on a crisis response team that advises school administration on crisis response protocols and discusses individual student needs.
Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned. • Work with families to provide services or referrals for local services. • Perform home visits as needed. • Support administrators and counselors with wellness checks. • Train faculty on trauma sensitivity. • Support health teacher as needed. • Meet with families to identify needs that support learning. • Follow up with students who struggle with addiction and provide resources/tools to help students and families. • Help parents and teachers with behavior management strategies, plans, and follow-up. • Provide check-ins for students, parents, families that are working on social, emotional, or behavioral issues. • Sit on and advise school crisis team.
