Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
• Supervises instructional personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives as outlined in the BRCS charter.
• Recommends policies/procedures/processes to improve educational experiences to the governing board.
• Oversees the effective implementation of evidence-based programs and practices (e.g., Reading Mastery, school-wide positive behavior intervention and supports, data-based decision making).
• Proactively creates a school climate supportive of all students within a student body that is diverse with respect to race/ethnicity, language, culture, income, gender and sexuality, and learning needs (academic and/or behavior related).
• Facilitates a dynamic field experience program across all grade levels.
• Fosters a school environment that is supportive of teachers’ growth and success.
• Develops and deploys professional development activities for staff and facilitates communication and collaboration between teachers.
• Facilitates communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, and/or resolving conflicts.
• Provides leadership in developing and maintaining systems that support the collection and review of data that inform instructional decisions and result in continuous improvement.
• Fosters collaboration with and between school employees, families, and the BRCS governing board.
• Assists the BRCS governing board in developing budgets and financial forecasts.
• Chairs meetings (e.g., curriculum, safety, site advisory, special school committees, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating activities and ensuring that outcomes are aligned with the BRCS charter and achieve school and/or state objectives.
• Implements policies, procedures and/or processes aligned with the BRCS charter for the purpose of providing direction and/or complying with mandated requirements.
• Prepares a wide variety of materials (e.g., quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, conveying information, gaining feedback, and ensuring alignment to the school’s mission as described in the charter.
• Positively represents the school within community forums for the purpose of promoting the school, maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals, assisting with issues related to school environment, and/or facilitating community outreach.
• Researches alternate funding sources for the purpose of maintaining the efficient operation of the school.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of Bear River Charter School.

• Possess academic and intellectual competencies required to perform functions listed above.
• Possess written and oral communication skills necessary to communicate and present information in an effective and professional manner.
• Possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical instructions, and government regulations.
• Be able to apply necessary mathematical functions and processes to successfully manage school budgets, purchasing, and staffing.
• Be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Be knowledgeable of federal and state school law and of the BRCS charter.
• Demonstrate competency in working with and supporting diverse students and their families (note: diverse in respect to race/ethnicity, language, culture, income, gender and sexuality, as well as academic and/or behavior related learning needs).
• Be knowledgeable of child development issues evidence-based educational programs and practices as they related to students in grades K-8.
• Possess and be able to apply knowledge of current and past educational research and theory in areas of the administrative assignment.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computer technology to complete essential duties and responsibilities.
• Be able to perform basic first aid and CPR.
Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Education or related field
• Current administrative/supervisory license
• Five years of experience in K-8 education
• Leadership experience in education
• Commitment to collaborative leadership practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check, including state, regional and/or federal fingerprint background checks and submit to drug testing as required periodically or randomly
• Must have or be able to obtain First Aid & CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
• Doctoral degree in Education or related field
• Previous administrative experience in education
• Experience with Direct Instruction programs (e.g., Reading Mastery, Corrective Reading) and/or explicit instruction programs
• Experience with developing and/or implementing dynamic field experience programs
• Experience implementing school-wide positive behavioral interventions and supports
• Experience developing and maintaining systems for engaging in data-based decision making and data-based individualization
