Must hold a license issued by Utah State Office of Education.
The license must be in one of the following types: Special Education (K-12+) (Level 1), Special Education (K-12+) (Level 2), Special Education (K-12+) (Level 3).
The license position area must be in one of the following areas: Mild/Moderate Disabilities, Special Education (General).
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
Description
The Special Education Teacher is responsible for program compliance, under the Special Education Director, with the USBE for reporting, academics, and fiscal responsibility (this is done in conjunction with the MCS Director and Business Manager). This position works closely with the MCS Director and classroom teachers to assure IEP compliance and implementation. The Special Education Teacher will administer MCS and USBE benchmark and progress monitoring assessments as directed by the MCS Director.
Under the direction of the school director, the teacher is responsible for the education of assigned students and will create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth. The teacher will establish effective rapport with students; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to produce a good foundation for further education, and do so in accordance with each student’s ability. Professional relations will be developed and maintained with other staff, parents, and stakeholders.
