Job Description The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an enjoyable and gratifying employment opportunity with our agency. We are looking for a caring and motivated Elementary Educator for the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing, at Jean Massieu School of the Deaf, located in Salt Lake City.

Principal Duties As an Instructor you will: -Focus on providing behavior support to our students and teachers. -Take initiative and lead on schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports system at JMS and facilitate PBIS meetings/events. -Work with school leadership, mental health partners, teachers, and other school staff to support students via teacher consultation and various team meetings including working on and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans. -Provide evidence-based social emotional supports in the form of small groups and push-in supports. -Maintain and ensure upkeep of the sensory room. -Collaborate with school leadership and mental health partners to assess, develop, and implement school-wide initiatives to address positive school climate and culture. -Plans learning experiences utilizing school curricula, IEP goals and objectives, and other appropriate materials and activities. -Develops lesson plans and uses a variety of assessment techniques that incorporate the Utah State Core -Curriculum, adapts curriculum to meet individual student needs, and utilizes effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences for a wide range of students’ needs. -Create an inclusive classroom environment using individualized instruction (academics, language, behavioral) to assist students with varying needs. -Ability to understand and use current technology and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction and experience. -Collaborate and communicate frequently with families and staff regarding student progress and needs. -Collect data and provide assessments to develop and complete students IEP in a timely manner and implement IEPs. -Work collaboratively with related services providers for language planning and needs of individual students. -Ability to teach Kindergarten through 12th grade elective classes. Some classes may include but are not limited to: Physical Education, Art, Computer Graphics, and STEM.
