Classroom Teacher Job Description
Job Title: CLASSROOM COMPUTER EDUCATION TEACHER
Credentials: Current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with endorsements for the appropriate level/subject area.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field from College/university recognized by State Board of Education.
Training or experience required: None required for this position.
Reports to: Building Principal
Contract: 182 days
Salary Schedule: Certified Salary Schedule

Essential Job Functions:
Possesses a broad scope and knowledge of subject matter and is acquainted with recent developments in teaching of the subject; participates in and contributes to curriculum development programs, as required.
Understands and applies the principles of child development as related to physical, intellectual, emotional and social growth.
Understands and uses a variety of strategies to facilitate learning and provides many opportunities for participation by all students.
Translates lesson plans into learning experiences that effectively utilize the available time for instruction.
Defines objectives, which contribute to attainment of district and site objectives and adjusts for individual and group differences in the formulation of those goals.
Relates objectives, involves all learners, explains directions, adjusts based on monitoring, guides practice, establishes closure, and demonstrates desired skill.
Make assignments related to objectives and arrange for differentiated assignments to meet the needs and abilities of students,
Evaluate students' academic growth fairly and impartially, utilizing standardized tests, as well as teacher designed assessments. Administer group-standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
Keeps appropriate and accurate records and prepares reports relating to students' progress. Identify students' needs. Cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
Organizes classroom routines to minimize classroom disciplinary problems. Handles all but the most serious classroom disciplinary problems for him/herself. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a positive functional learning atmosphere in the classroom without negatively impacting other classrooms.
Is familiar with, and abides by, all district policies and procedures. Is familiar with and teaches adopted courses of study. Selects and uses appropriate materials to facilitate teaching and learning of the adopted curriculum.
Maintains building, equipment and supplies in the best possible condition and promotes those same attitudes in students.
Establishes rapport with students and provides a pleasant safe and orderly climate conducive to learning.
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities. Meets the district requirement for professional development activities.
Supervises students during out of class times in the course of the workday.
Carries out designated share of extracurricular school activities.
Demonstrates professional and ethical attitudes toward the district, the school, employees, and the public.
Demonstrates emotional maturity, initiative and self-reliance.
Solves problems.
Responds to criticism in a constructive manner.
Develops and maintains open communication. Works cooperatively with administrators, colleagues, students, and parents. Share ideas, materials, and space.
Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students' progress and interpret the school program.

Participates in site school improvement planning and faculty committees.
Participates and works on a team with other site educators.
Assists special education students with academic, social and personal needs, as outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Keeps required records in an efficient and legible manner
Presents a professional appearance appropriate to the teaching assignment.
Displays knowledge and understanding of multicultural issues.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the principal.
Performs teaching and reporting requirements identified as part of state and federally funded programs.

Additional Duties
Performances of other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Knowledge of content and a variety of sub-topics, including but not limited to, history, geography, sociology, economics, political science, systems of government, education, responsible citizenship, anthropology, and humanities.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
Ability to organize and coordinate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Successful performance of the job requires good “customer service”/people skills and the ability to handle problems and provide information and technical assistance as requested.
It requires complying with safety guidelines and policies to reduce accidents or injury to staff or to students. It requires the following of school dress standards, proper attendance and/or use of leave according to policy in addition to other work-habits important for staff and/or student safety and success.
Creativity, initiative and effective problem-solving are critical to the success of the position. Management of the computerization of school district operations including curriculum and instruction. An incumbent must demonstrate professional and ethical attitudes toward the district, the school, employees, and the public; demonstrate emotional maturity, initiative and self-reliance; solve problems; respond to criticism in a constructive manner.
An incumbent in this role may provide training and/or support to district staff related to best practices and/or technology; perform such tasks to the ultimate benefit of the educational program. Travel may be required in-district or out-of district for professional meetings and/or professional training. An incumbent in this position will utilize discretion, ingenuity and independent judgment due to the complexity of the job. Since there may be several ways to solve a problem, an incumbent is free to choose the solution aligned with the district’s policies, mission, vision, and values and in collaboration with site and/or district administration.
