Job Description The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an enjoyable and gratifying employment opportunity with our agency. We are looking for a caring and motivated Outreach Educator for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This position is working in Central Utah (Price, Juab, Sevier Counties).
Principal Duties As an Educator you will: -Work with individual deaf and hard of hearing students in inclusive settings on an itinerant basis for the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind, Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) division. -Provide appropriate in person and online programming for deaf and hard of hearing students, K-12, with emphasis in American Sign Language (ASL) and auditory skill development. -Teach subject matter, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, correlated with other appropriate learning activities. -Develop lesson plans that incorporate the Utah State Core Curriculum, adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs and utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences which best utilize time available for instruction. -Understand and use computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction. -Maintain instructional organization and discipline. -Establish and maintain a standard of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning environment. -Devise and utilize techniques which accurately measure students’ progress. -Evaluate student academic and personal growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. -Communicate with parents through conferences and other means, discussing academic and personal growth areas. -Demonstrate professional ethics; conform to school policies, including attendance, absences, and evaluations. -Improve professional competence through participation in staff development activities and other professional growth activities.
