South Summit High School is looking for a visionary leader to take on the responsibility as our Dean of Students/Athletic Director. This is a full time 184-day teacher contract with a stipend and 24 additional days of pay included. We are looking for a driven person who has the desire to support all students and student athletes in all capacities of their educational experiences and athletic/activity programs. They must share our desire to develop a cohesive school environment aligned with a competitive athletic program through educational values such as hard work, respect, scholastic achievement, sportsmanship, and health. This position requires working closely with high school administration, student body, UHSAA, athletes, staff, coaches, parents, and the community. Qualities such as commitment, passion, perspective, knowledge, organization, and communication are essential. Must have or be willing to complete UHSAA recommended NIAAA Athletic Administrators’ Certification. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Provide administrative assistance in areas, including student supervision, guidance, discipline, and a variety of student body activities • Create an environment which promotes high attendance rates, school safety, and a respectful learning environment • Work with student body/government to improve school spirit at events, plan activities that enhance student/fan experiences, valuing respect, gratitude, and perspective • Follow UHSAA Constitution, By-Laws, Administrative Policies & Guidelines • Develop procedures ensuring all local stakeholders stay in compliance with UHSAA requirements & regulations • Attend region meetings and other pertinent UHSAA sponsored events • Manage athletic & activity fiscal responsibilities, including budgets, fees, and fundraising • Maintain, review, update, and communicate the Student Athletic Handbook • Manage the scheduling and calendaring of all activities and athletic facilities • Schedule or approve all high school activity buses and vehicle transportation • Hire, train, and support all head coaches • Work with coaches with facility, equipment, and uniform needs • Collaborate with school athletic trainer on equipment needs, and facilitate athlete treatment and support • Develop a process of accountability wherein student athletes and parents can address concerns • Work with custodians and business administrator to maintain 2 gyms, wrestling room, 3 ball fields, track, tennis courts, and equipment connected with these facilities, both upkeep and replacement schedules • Arrange game day setup, including gate, clock, event coordination, announcers, supervision, music, concessions, YouTube, visibility, clean-up, shut down, etc. • Work with the booster club to support the different athletic teams and home events • Develop and maintain support systems with coaches for feeder programs • Effectively manage the school sports sponsorship program, recruiting sponsors, purchasing banners and plaques, communicating presentations, purchasing swag, and delivering items to sponsors • Work with district communications director for website/social media communication • Organize “Athletes of the Month”, Academic All State, team GPAs to UIAAA for “Academic State Championship Award”, leadership nominations, and other acclimates
Salary will be based on the 2023-2024 Licensed Salary Schedule and will receive full benefits. • 100% paid traditional medical plan, 100% paid Life and LTD plan, 50% traditional dental plan, Utah Retirement, and paid leave benefits.
