The certificate must be in one of the following types: Professional Certificate, Temporary Certificate, Statement of Status of Eligibility.
The certificate position area must be in one of the following areas: English, Reading, Reading Specialist, Reading/Language Arts.
The certificate must be in one of the following grades: 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The certificate status must be active.

Job Summary: As a member of the instructional team, the Reading Teacher will be responsible for conducting daily Direct Instruction in a traditional classroom setting. The Reading Teacher will provide direct Reading instruction in accordance with the District’s approved Reading Plan and ensures that students receive tiered Reading Interventions in accordance with their individual learning needs. The Reading Teacher in collaboration with the Principal and designated members of the Administrative Team, will ensure that students are progressed monitored a minimum of three times per year (AP1, AP2 and AP3). The Reading Teacher regularly meets with students to advise and plan for students’ individual learning plans, and providing coaching and mentoring in an advisory capacity.
The Reading Teacher works as a part of the instructional team in order to meet the needs of all students. Because building relationships is a critical component of this learning environment, the team works together to identify student needs that may be barriers to success. Teachers collaborate with team members to analyze different means of meeting student needs and communicates with students, parents, and other team members about student progress and plans for next steps.
Reading Teacher Responsibilities:
• Improve literacy through listening, reading, writing, and speaking; • Identify, implement, and monitor students level of Reading Interventions needed and students’ progress towards graduation; • Administer formative and summative assessments including benchmark and statewide assessments as per the school and district’s assessment calendars; • Implement the school’s Multi-tiered System of Support and ensure that students receive appropriately tiered instructional support using the identified curriculum and interventions needed; • Progress monitor students and participate in the school’s data cycle and Professional Learning Communities’ Meetings as per the school’s Multi-tiered System of Support Plan • Using the Language Arts Florida Standards and the school’s approved Intensive Reading Curriculum, create and submit weekly lesson plans that are consistent with all components of the school’s standard lesson plan format; • Provide small group instruction to students enrolled in an alternative school setting; • Provide instructional support, interventions, modifications, and adaptations to all students with disabilities in accordance with their Individual Education Plans; • Provide instructional support, interventions, modifications and adaptations to English Language Learners in accordance with each ESOL student’s language proficiency level and their identified instructional needs; • Record and maintain accurate student attendance; • Consult with other content area teachers, special education teachers, parents and students, advising on strategies and activities that may be used to enhance a student's reading skills • Assist in the development and implementation of individual education service plans for students; • Provide essential supervision to students in their education requirements; • In accordance with the school’s reporting policies, keep school administrators informed about the reading programs/strategies and needs of the school; • Keep accurate documentation regarding student progress, needs, strengths, grades, observations, anecdotal records, and other related data; • Participate in district as well as in-house professional learning opportunities identified and approved by the school principal • Other responsibilities or projects as assigned by the Principal or Dean of Academics;
