Must hold a license issued by Utah State Office of Education.
The license must be in one of the following types: School Counselor (K-12) (Level 1), School Counselor (K-12) (Level 2), School Counselor (K-12) (Level 3), School Psychologist (K-12) (Level 1), School Psychologist (K-12) (Level 2), School Psychologist (K-12) (Level 3), School Social Worker (K-12) (Level 1), School Social Worker (K-12) (Level 2), School Social Worker (K-12) (Level 3).
The license position area must be in one of the following areas: Computers, Elementary Teacher, Success for All, Title I, Emotional Behavior Disabilities, Functional Behavioral Specialist, Admissions/Registrar, Counselor/Guidance, Financial Aid, Minority/Multicultural Affairs, Pupil Personnel Workers, Residence Life, School Liaison Officer, School Nurse, Social Worker, Truancy Officer.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.

Responsibilities
The job of Counselor includes providing support to students in the instructional process with specific responsibility for providing course curriculum, information and recommendations to students and parents; and assisting in the development of goals and plans for achievement.
School counselors, in collaboration with the Student Support Team and School Administrative Team, are responsible to develop, initiate and implement a comprehensive school counseling program based on school wide goals and academic and behavioral goals of students.
As part of the Student Support Team, Counselor will assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of a school's counseling and guidance program to meet the individual and diverse needs of all students through individual planning, guidance curriculum, social/emotional learning instruction and responsive services.
Counselor will assist in the training of teachers and staff in Tier 1 behavioral intervention in the classroom.
Counselor will oversee implementation of the school's Positive Behavioral Intervention System and make recommendations for its improvement.
Coordinates and collaborates with teachers and other personnel, resource specialists and/or community (e.g. Courts, child protective services, etc.) for the purpose of providing/receiving requested information and/or making recommendations.
Counsels students, parents, and guardians to enhance student success in school
Develops a variety of programs for providing information to assist students in difficult situations and successful school transitions
Monitors students' progress for the purpose of identifying issues and taking appropriate action for increasing student success
Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions
Performs other related duties as assigned such as supervising students at recess, during field trips or skiing or helping serve lunch when needed.
Prepares a wide variety of materials (e.g. quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, audits, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information
Presents information (e.g. budget overviews, accounting processes, distribution formulas, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established internal controls
Schedules student classes for the purpose of securing appropriate placement and meeting school, and/or State requirements
Supervises assigned programs (e.g. peer counseling, special education, ESL, etc.) to monitor performance, provide for professional growth and achieve overall curriculum implementation
Performs essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately and safely, with or without reasonable accommodation, and without posing a threat of harm to self or others
Attendance: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion
Risks found in the typical work environment which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations
