Greeneville City Schools is currently seeking a highly qualified choral director to teach high school chorus and Advanced Placement Music Theory at Greeneville High School. The applicant must have experience in choral conducting, choral repertoire, music theory, vocal pedagogy, and piano proficiency. The applicant must be prepared to provide effective leadership, instruction, and motivation for over 120 high school students and their parents while working cooperatively with the middle school director, the high school band director, and the Niswonger Performing Arts Center. In addition to these core elements, the winning applicant is responsible for leading choral ensembles to regional and state festivals, putting on musicals periodically, organizing travel both nationally and internationally, preparing four major choral-area concerts each year, and readying students after school for All-Region and All-State choir auditions annually. Organization and fiscal responsibilities over the choral budget are also expected as well as supervision of an assistant choir director. The current philosophy of the choral department is seeking excellence in all areas of life while performing choral music artistically and with great passion.
Applicants must have a current valid educator license with appropriate endorsement. They must meet highly qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind, must have strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Must have satisfactory background/fingerprint checks as required by the Tennessee State Department of Education and state law. Must meet health and physical requirements.
