DEFINITION:  The Parapro Intervention works directly with the classroom teacher(s) to provide intervention programs for students who require additional time and alternative strategies in reading, writing and math.

Assists teachers with students in classroom setting; provide instructional support for students; monitors student behavior and performance; assists in preparing lesson plans; maintains records of attendance, attends required workshops and meetings. Assignments will be based on funding source (e.g., support English Language Learners; K-3 Literacy Support (Move on When Reading (MOWR); support Special Education Students.
Assists teacher by making copies, filing paperwork, organizing materials for daily teachings; monitors students before and after school and during lunch; ensures a healthy and safe environment for the students; documents any student-related incidents or injuries; performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Federal and State rules, regulations and laws governing teaching in a school environment.
Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
Knowledge of early childhood learning methods and techniques.
Skill in monitoring and assisting students.
Skill in effective verbal and written communication.                                     
Skill in following oral and written instructions.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, and may be required to do some lifting. May be exposed to infectious diseases. 
High School Diploma or equivalent
Fingerprint clearance is required
Preferred: Childcare or Classroom experience; additional coursework or certifications
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.

Salary Grade:  B        Hourly Pay: $15.55         Hours per Day:  7         Days:  189         Start Date: 2023/2024 School Year
