SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
Must hold a license issued by Utah State Office of Education.
The license must be in one of the following types: Special Education (K-12+) (Level 1), Special Education (K-12+) (Level 2), Special Education (K-12+) (Level 3), Special Education (K-12+) (ARL).
The license position area must be in one of the following areas: Autism, Special Education (General).
The license must be in one of the following grades: 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
Spark Homestead is a standalone residential treatment program specializing in autism, located in Payson, Utah. It is tailored to be an all-girls environment, for teens in 9th – 12th grades, helping neurodiverse females to gain self-identity, confidence, and resilience! Besides treatment, we provide a full curriculum, year-round school as part of helping our students discover a love of learning and confidence in their education. We are accredited by the Utah State Board of Education as a special education school, and utilize instructional pedagogy that is centered on project-based learning. We currently seek to hire a Special Education Teacher for our Spark Homestead School! We are looking for an individual who is licensed in Special Education, is comfortable with all curriculum subject areas or is willing to learn new curriculum subjects to work as a co-teacher with another licensed SpEd Teacher. We seek someone who can help our students engage with their peers, utilizing higher-level thinking skills applicable to real-life implementation as they work on their classroom projects to learn the curriculum. Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. School begins at 9:00 am and ends at 3:30 pm. • Our academic calendar and contracts are YEAR-ROUND with 50 days on and 15 days off schedule, providing for 12 weeks of vacation, as well as holidays off and professional development days built in. • 1.5 hours’ total prep time per day. • The incumbent is intended to start by February 2023. Duties and Responsibilities: • Design and teach lesson plans with a co-teacher in high school subjects with clearly defined goals and objectives using a project-based learning model. • Educate students, grades 9 - 12, with various academic levels and special needs. • Frequently communicate and work with school districts regarding IEP goals for each student with an IEP assigned to your caseload; maximum of 4 students. • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' grades submitting grade reports on time. • Update IEP goals for students with IEPs monthly. • Academic advising for all students: parent contacts, transcript summaries.
