Supervisor of Special Education
Must submit an administrative application.
Assist the Director of Student Services in the supervision, development, implementation, and evaluation of special education programming, curricula, and staff to ensure the successful provision of special education services to students in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are to assist with coordination, supervision, and evaluation of special education programming, services and staff to include PreSchool programs, School Social Work, and Section 504 services. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide direct support and professional development for building-level staff/teachers connected to child study, special education evaluations, eligibility determinations, IEP development, specialized instruction, and local procedures and practices Provide consult to building administrators in all aspects of special education through coaching regarding regulatory issues and instructional practices, support programmatic and staffing changes to meet ever changing population of students Serve as the Division’s Section 504 Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Student Services Assist with the supervision and evaluation of special education staff to include PreSchool programs, School Social Work services, and Section 504 specialist Work with outside organizations to provide coordination of services for special education students and families Assist with the preparation of local, State, and Federal reports and financial reimbursement requests Assist in the planning and coordination of Students with Intensive Support Needs Application (SISNA) and Division’s Medicaid program Coordinate the Division’s Virginia Alternative Assessment Program (VAAP) and provide targeted professional development to teachers and staff Oversee and monitor Secondary Transition to include alternative pathways to graduation and community-based resources and opportunities for students Other assignments as deemed necessary by the Director of Student Services SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with evaluation and supervision of departmental office staff, PreSchool programs, School Social Work services, and Section 504 specialist.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Hold the Postgraduate Professional Certificate with an endorsement in school administration.
Hold a valid Virginia driver's license.
260 days per year, Administrative Grade 2 salary scale.
