General Definition of Work: Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work providing a variety of secretarial and clerical support in an office environment, preparing and maintaining fiscal and related reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the assistant principal and principal.
Essential Functions: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.)
Receives, receipts, disburses, accounts for and deposits funds; pays bills; prepares purchase orders; tracks money and various charge card accounts.
Operates personal computer to include the utilization of Microsoft Office software to effectively perform essential job functions.
Maintains cash receipts and disbursement records.
Composes and types letters, memos, reports, bulletins, requisitions, invoices, schedules and records.
Answers telephone; receives and responds to inquiries and complaints; meets the public and provides information.
Operates and maintains stock for copiers and other general office equipment
Collects fees and monies; prepares and maintains necessary ledgers, logs and reports.
Posts receipts and disbursements to proper accounts; prepares a variety of special and periodic financial reports.
Receives and types textbook, material and supply orders; follow-up on orders.
Orders and distributes supplies; maintains various inventory records.
Prepares and maintains payroll, leave and personnel files.
Performs the duties of School Secretary.
Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: General knowledge of departmental routine, banking procedures, payroll and personnel procedures and financial record keeping; general knowledge of bookkeeping terminology, methods, procedures and software; general knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment; general knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; general knowledge of school system routine, personnel procedures, policies and record keeping; general knowledge of basic first aid; practices skill in the use of computer equipment and related software packages, hardware and peripheral equipment; ability to develop and follow details work procedures; ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, students and the general public.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and moderate experience providing office support or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements: Possession of an appropriate driver’s license may be required.

Human Interaction: Requires the ability to maintain a cordial and effective relationship with visitors and clients. Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information.
Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages as needed; may require ability to utilize principles of fractions and/or interpret graphs as needed.
Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.
Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work at the work site daily, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 25 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination; Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; Most tasks require oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, playground, classroom, light traffic).
