AUDIO DESCRIBER
 
  Location:   Tucson or Phoenix 
 Employee Status:   Temporary
  Hours Per Week:   As Needed
  Work Calendar:   As Needed
  Pay Rate:   $20.00
 
CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Individual positions may be responsible for some or all of the following listed duties and/or other related duties
  • Narrate detailed descriptions for IEP (Individual Education Plan) meetings, performing arts events, extracurricular activities, staff meetings and other events that would require audio describing
  • Describe the visual actions of an event through dialogue and sound effects, providing a continuous description of what is being seen
  • Continue professional growth through participation in trainings and workshops
 
KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Policies and procedures of the immediate work unit
  • Principles and practices of administration and management
  • Agency or program rules, regulations, and operating procedures
  • History of Audio Description
  • Professional Code of Conduct for Audio Describers
  • Technique, language, and equipment used for audio describing
 
SKILLED IN:
  • Research and analysis
  • Concentration and observation
  • Independent judgement
 
ABILITY TO:
  • Communication information and ideas effectively so that others will understand
  • Convey the visual message, evaluate the receiver’s comprehension, and adjust and modify as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Work independently
 
SPECIAL CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to pass FBI and State Background check
  • Defensive driver training program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on state business
  • Certificate of Completion of an Audio description training program with documentation of “describing” in a variety of settings
  • Work-related skill and experience
