Must hold a certificate issued by any agency.
The certificate position area must be in one of the following areas: Early Intervention Specialist, Emotional Behavior Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Mild/Moderate Disabilities, Special Education (General).
The certificate must be in one of the following grades: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th.
The certificate status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.

JOB OVERVIEW KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks an immediate Learning Specialist to support high school students. The LS focuses on ensuring that KIPP Jacksonville is in compliance with all Individual Education Plans (IEPs), teaching small groups of students, providing support facilitation in general education settings, leading a learning strategies class, and working with families around the special education process. The LS may work with one grade level or may split their time among multiple grade levels, depending on student need. The LS will facilitate regular meetings around student IEPs and will work directly with students to ensure their IEP goals are met.
All Learning Specialists are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with our families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Leader.
For the 2022-23 school year, teachers at the high school work 6:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically 7:15 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (12:30 p.m.), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development. Depending on the grade levels the LS works with, the model and schedule can vary slightly.
KIPP Bold City's vision is to be a high school built on student voice and choice. Bold City offers a variety of options for its students- including honors classes, Advanced Placement classes for all, and career/technical education. Classes are chosen based on student and family interest. As the school grows, we seek to add more career tracks as well as Dual Enrollment. We also offer a variety of extracurriculars and sports to students. We seek teachers that are aligned to our philosophies around student voice and choice and are flexible to meet the interest areas of students.
