 Lunchroom Monitors  (Part-time)                

  Salary:  $10,527-$13,503 ( Pay Band AA (Level 6) 

  Hours (182 days). This includes training/meetings (4 hours per day/5 days/week) for a total of 728                         

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK

Example:  Under the leadership of The Principal and consultation from the Food and Nutritional Services Coordinator this position is responsible for the monitoring of student behavior during meal service of lunch in the cafeteria which includes assisting with the flow of meal services during lunch; does related work as required.      

This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS

  • Manages students during lunch (behavior issues will be referred to the teacher or Principal according to guidelines established by the individual school site);

  • Encourages good table manners, students’ personal accountability for their dining area; and appropriate noise levels;

  • Participates in training sessions and meetings

  • Circulates throughout the lunchroom or in areas where lunch is served assisting students as needed;

  • Communicates with students and school staff in a professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills;

  • Sanitizes tables before lunch and in-between lunch sessions as students exit the area;

  • Maintains lunchroom cleanliness to include spills on tables and trash on floors during each lunch and follows protocols to notify the custodial staff in regards to floor spills; 

  • Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time;
