Assistant Director of Technology Services Job Description
Job Title: Assistant Director of Technology Services
Credentials: None required for this position.
Education: High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business math/MIS, etc. preferred.
Training or experience required: 1-2 years of related experience with relational databases preferred. Must have some skills in hardware and software installation, troubleshooting, and training.

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer
Contract: 260 days
Salary Schedule: Off-Scale
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Essential Job Functions:
Perform supervisory duties under minimal supervision to assist the Chief Technology Officer with the day-to-day operation of the Norman Public School District technology systems as well as organize, direct, and evaluate technology personnel, while keeping the Chief Technology Officer informed at all times.
Interpret policies and procedures and follow predetermined solutions established by higher level supervision or operating procedures and utilize discretion, ingenuity and independent judgment due to the complexity of the job.
Oversee the district’s Student Information System.
Maintain connectivity with learning management systems for classroom rostering.
Use various methods, including Structured Query Language, to move data in and out of different computer systems.
Provide training in all facets of administrative computing, and work in partnership with instructional computing via training and support.
Provide telephone assistance and personal contact visits in support of all areas of service listed above and provide technical assistance when needed.
Provide and direct meetings with site staff, developing technical assistance to meet the needs and to present new or different procedures/policies.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or that will assist the Chief Technology Officer and/or Chief Operating Officer.

Successful performance of the job requires good customer service/people skills and to handle problems and provide information and technical assistance as requested. It requires complying with safety guidelines and policies to reduce accident or injury to staff or to students. It requires following school dress standards, proper attendance or leave policies, and other work-habits concerns for staff. Creativity, initiative and effective problem solving are critical to the success of the position.Help manage the computerization of school district operations. Provide training and support to district staff in the use of administrative computer systems. Perform such tasks to the ultimate benefit of the educational program. An incumbent in this position will utilize discretion, ingenuity and independent judgment due to the complexity of the job. Since there may be several ways to solve a problem, an incumbent is free to choose the solution. In a workday, the employee must stand/walk 4 hours per day. Employee's job requires frequent bending/stooping, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, and pushing/pulling; occasional climbing (6-foot ladder) and reaching above the shoulders. Employee's job requires occasional carrying/lifting of up to 50 pounds to move computers and printers.
