Job Summary:

The Human Trafficking Youth Prevention Education (HTYPE) Specialist position is responsible for implementing a three-year federal grant program that provides prevention education services and assistance to school staff and students to help them identify and respond to human trafficking.  The HTYPE specialist will work full-time at designated school sites.  This position will provide support to key program components that includes training teachers and staff, working with district personnel and members of the grant partnership to ensure that the grant’s programmatic requirements are met and will monitor implementation and student success data.  

Essential Functions:

- Collaborates with the Granite District HTYPE Grant Coordinator, other HTYPE school-site specialists, school staff, higher education institutions, and community partners to implement all programmatic requirements of the grant.
- Builds and maintains strong working relationships with school and district personnel.
- Carry out HTYPE Grant activities and ensure services are data-driven and aligned with the federal HTYPE project.
- Monitor HTYPE budgets and expenditures for assigned schools and ensure that all efforts supplement, not duplicate, any efforts supported through other federally funded initiatives.
- Provide monthly updates to the HTYPE Grant Coordinator on the progress the school is making to achieve the goals and objectives outline in the HTYPE grant plan.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people, including peers, administrators, faculty, students, and the public.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the HTYPE Grant and understanding of the importance of providing Human Trafficking prevention education for all students and staff in Granite School District.
- Demonstrate experience in promoting the success and achievement of students from diverse cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds in educational and community settings.

Required Education and Qualifications:

- Requires a Utah State Board of Education (USBE) cleared criminal background check.
- Requires one of the following:

- a valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a license area of concentration in one of the following:

- Early Childhood Education
- Elementary
- Secondary
- Special Education
- School Counselor
- School Social Worker; or

- School Psychologist; or
- an equivalent license in another state or country.

- Requires two letters of recommendation regarding the individual's work as a licensed educator.

Assigned Decision Making:

- Schedules professional development sessions with school staff.
- Develops calendar for trainings and required meetings and events.

Non-Supervisory Interaction:

- Interacts and collaborates with employees, board members, patrons, vendors, administrators and secretaries in schools.

Supervisory Responsibility:

- Not applicable.
Budget Responsibility:

- Responsible for collaborating with department secretary and director in monitoring HTYPE budgets and expenditures pertinent to the position.

Working Environment:

- Work takes place in a typical office or school environment.
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
