Must hold a certificate issued by Florida Department of Education.
The certificate must be in one of the following types: Professional Certificate, Temporary Certificate, Statement of Status of Eligibility.
The certificate position area must be in one of the following areas: Biology/Life Science, Environmental Science, Science (General).
The certificate must be in one of the following grades: 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
Performance Responsibilities • Plan, develop, and execute lessons that reflect the curriculum (the state's and Cambridge AICE) core educational standards in all of the high school science disciplines. • Adapt science curriculum for individual, small group, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students. • Provide group and individual instruction to motivate pupils, and effectively utilize the time available for instructional activities. • Evaluate the academic and social growth of students. • Assess student progress and ability to meet courses’ standards in science knowledge and skills. • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior. • Employ a variety of methodologies in teaching and instructing pupils, including demonstrations, discussions, lectures, and hands-on activities. • Utilize educational equipment, such as materials, books, and other learning aids. • Actively engage in professional development opportunities and then implementing the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom. • Create a classroom environment conducive to effective instruction • Use assessment data to assist administrators with placement of students in appropriate instructional or intervention programs. • Effectively communicate with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, both successes and concerns. • Serve lunch and bus duty assignments, effectively run Manta Mentoring group, and actively participate as a team player within our Marco Island Academy family.
