GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK Under the supervision of the Chief Academic Officer, the Coordinator II - Professional Learning supports all staff professional growth by leading a comprehensive vision for aligned professional growth, modeling the way regarding best practices within the district, and the development, implementation and monitoring of staff professional growth. Additionally, the Professional Learning Coordinator assesses needs and designs, delivers, directs, and evaluates district professional learning for all employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assess needs and design, deliver and evaluate professional development programs that align with the district’s strategic plan for all staff members; includes but is not limited to elementary and secondary professional learning systems for teachers, principals, coaches, school teams, and classified staff Collaborate with departments across the district in the development and implementation of professional learning opportunities Provide assistance and direction to all elementary and secondary schools in the implementation of a guaranteed and viable curriculum, including but not limited to all content and elective areas Analyze the impact of professional learning systemically Develop a systemic process to collect, organize, and monitor professional learning at all levels (i.e., district, school) Design professional learning opportunities using face-to-face, online, MOOC, guest speakers, teacher leaders, community leaders, Edcamp style meetings, and other innovative methods for supporting the district’s staff Plan, develop, and facilitate training for aspiring leaders program (i.e., assistant principal, principal, teacher leader) Assess needs, design, deliver and evaluate professional development programs that support and build the capacity of all building-based principals and assistant principals Develop, lead, evaluate and monitor the new teacher and new administrator induction programs PK-12, including facilitation, data collection, and ongoing support Direct, evaluate, and coordinate the Professional Learning Department services to the district, including facilitation, mediation, and individual coaching to district departments and school community groups Facilitate district task forces, school teams, and unit teams in the accomplishment of tasks that relate to the district ends Develop, administer, monitor, and initiate requisitions for the district professional learning budget and direct monies to schools for building-level professional development Coordinate projects with other curriculum coordinators, program support staff, and administrators Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal relations skills Ability to frequently travel among district facility locations Strong facilitation, coaching, and problem-solving skills Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of diversity Demonstrated instructional leadership skills including a clear vision for a district professional learning program, and proven ability to move to full implementation of an initiative Knowledge of and experience with mediation and conflict resolution Advanced knowledge of “best practices” in staff development, training design and delivery, and instructional leadership Advanced knowledge of instructional practices in specific content areas, supervision practices, program administration, data analysis, school improvement, and integrating computers into instruction Advanced knowledge of the teacher and administrator evaluation processes and procedures, including state and district expectations for implementing educator effectiveness Ability to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to your job, including adapting to and mastering new system applications and processes as implemented by the district or department Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, District Policies, building, and department procedures Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds Willingness to contribute to cultural diversity for educational enrichment Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
