This position is for a  teacher at Cottonwood High School for the 2022-2023 school year. The teacher may be responsible for teaching:
-  Commercial Photography
-  Video Production 
-  Yearbook

Required Certification

Requires one of the following:
- a valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration with one of the following endorsements: Commercial Photography, Audio Video Production or multimedia. (Note: the teacher will be required to have both a commercial photography and an Audio Video production endorsement within three years of hire.)
- a valid Associate Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration with one of the following endorsements: Commercial Photography, Audio Video Production or multimedia. (Note: the teacher will be required to have both a commercial photography and an Audio Video production endorsement within three years of hire.)
- an equivalent license and endorsement in another state; or
- a related bachelor’s degree including such areas as digital media, multimedia design, photography, tv production, video production, or technology and engineering.
- Have six (6) years of documented, related, full-time occupational experience (not teaching experience) within the ten (10) years prior to application in such areas as digital media, multimedia design, photography, tv production, or video production. Documentation should be included on the resume indicating duties, responsibilities, and dates of employment. (Note: Photography requires four (4) years of documented, related, full-time occupational experience (not teaching experience) within the six (6) years prior to application.)
- hold a related degree in Fine Arts with a minimum of 12 credit hours of photography courses from a regionally accredited college or university within the last ten (10) years.
**Credit hours will be verified during the interview stage for all applicants with a Fine Arts Degree.  Applicants must have uploaded verification of degree, AND all applicable university credits in transcript form into the Frontline application system in order to be considered.
- have passed the NOCTI #5186 – Television Production Exam (video production) or the Utah Photography Teacher Exam (UPTE)
 -New teacher education program graduates who have not received their teaching license yet may upload a conferral letter from their university education program in lieu of their license.  This letter must include the anticipated date of graduation and the specific areas in which the applicant will be licensed.

The following qualifications are preferred:
- ESL endorsement; and
- interest in supporting extra-curricular activities.
- willingness to run a CTSO (Skills USA)

Job Summary
Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students develop the skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, lifelong learners and productive citizens.  Teachers maintain a safe environment; establish rapport with students, parents and colleagues; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education and do so in accordance with each student’s ability.   Teachers differentiate curriculum and use effective research-based methods of instruction. Implement Proficiency-Based Grading in Student Evaluations.
 
Essential Functions
  • Maintain a safe, orderly lab environment following all required safety procedures.
  • Utilize lab equipment to apply concepts found in USBE’s CTE Core Curriculum.
  • Maintain and inventory equipment.
  • Build strong working relationships with industry partners to support alignment of core content to industry needs.
  • Teach the core content area(s) outlined in the USBE’s Core Curriculum, and adopted by the Board of Education, correlated with other approved learning activities.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the child.
  • Utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences which best utilize the time available for instruction
  • Utilize computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction.
  • Supervision of students requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g. recess duty, gymnasium activities, etc.) in all types of weather and air quality.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom through organization and appropriate discipline strategies.
  • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Be familiar with and willing to implement Proficiency-Based Learning in evaluating students.
  • Be familiar with and willing to implement the Granite Way.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences, telephone calls, e-mails, student planners, school website, and other appropriate means, to discuss the student’s progress.

Required Training and Education

Working Environment
  • Supervision of students requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g. recess duty, gymnasium activities, etc.) in all types of weather and air quality.
  • Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
 
Physical Demands
 
Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects. Ability to talk or hear. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to focus. Physical demands require moving and lifting supplies, equipment, etc. up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Teachers in P.E., CTE, Theatre and/or Art may be required to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
