POSITION DESCRIPTION: Responsible for financial reporting, payroll, procurement, budgeting, accounting, fixed assets, and auditing of division school board accounts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensure:
Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Education
Preferred: Candidate shall possess a Master’s degree in business, finance, or accounting and/or CPA preferred or equivalent work experience and training.
Experience
Required: Candidate shall have six (6) to ten (10) years of administrative/supervisory experience and preferably school business experience.

Required: Possesses knowledge of budget planning, procurement, accounts payable, payroll support, financial reporting, audit, capital asset management, school activity funds, personnel management, and applicable laws, regulations and policies; highly effective communication, listening, and interpersonal skills; strong conceptual skills and problem-solving capabilities; knowledgeable of strategic planning and improvement; ability to develop and effectively present ideas orally and in written form
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the preparation of the annual school board operating and capital improvement budgets to include revenue, expenditures, and average daily membership (ADM) projections
- Reviews and monitors revenue and expenditure transactions on a monthly basis
- Manages analysis, financial projections, and cost accounting.
- Oversees the Payroll Department and works with the Payroll Manager on day to day operational matters
- Oversees the Procurement Department and works with the Procurement Manager on day to day operational matters
- Completes the submission of state department of education financial reports:
- Annual School Report (ASR)
- Annual Required Local Effort Report
- Annual Cost Reports for Administration & Transportation
- Annual Maintenance of Effort Report (MOE)
- SPED Excess Cost Report
- Medicaid Reimbursement Reports
- Assists in preparing audit closing packages for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)
- Monitors the monthly accounting reports of the construction fund account and initiates construction draws
- Prepares monthly reimbursement requests for construction expense refunds
- Updates the debt service payment schedule and prepares debt service payments
- Coordinates various aspects of monthly accounting close process and reporting of financial results
- Establishes and monitors the fixed asset inventory system, ensuring that assets have been recorded accurately in the division’s financial system
- Updates school board financial policies and procedures
- Submits the renewal application for the property causality insurance
- Performs other duties as required by the Chief Financial Officer or the Superintendent
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: (12 -month contract, minimum of 7.5 hours per day)
SALARY begings at $115,098 with additional health and retirement benefits
