Job Summary:
The Special Education Severe Coordinator is responsible for supporting students, and teachers of students, with severe disabilities in various special education settings throughout the district.
- Organize professional development for special education teachers.
- Provide coaching to special education teachers on developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and how to conduct IEP eligibility meetings.
- Provide support to school teams to ensure compliance with Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA) federal regulations and Utah State Board of Education (USBE) Special Education Rules.
- Provide coaching on district-approved English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics curriculum and assessment measures.
- Participate in district level Professional Learning Committees (PLCs) and committee meetings in collaboration with general education and other district level committees.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

- Excellent understanding of the IDEA, USBE Special Education Rules and LRBI manual, and Granite School District policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Utah Essential Elements in ELA, math, and science and Proficiency Based Learning.
- Works independently with little direct supervision.

Required Education, Training and Qualifications:
- Requires one of the following:
- a valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Special Education License Area of Concentration; or
- an equivalent license in another state or country.
Required Prior Experience:
- Requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a licensed special education position.
