Description
Position Purpose
Works under the guidance and supervision of the Coordinator of compensatory Programs and Supervisor of Math Instruction to provide leadership and expertise in math content and curriculum.

Ensures proper correlation between math instructional delivery and the attainment of Standards of Learning;
Assists school leadership teams with analyzing test data to determine benchmarks, establishing goals and objectives, and monitoring improvement in the school.
Provides instructional coaching support to teachers through co-teaching, modeling, and facilitated reflection
Conducts informal classroom observations to provide feedback that facilitates teacher reflection and growth;
Collaborates with mathematics department, teachers and administration to analyze assessment data, diagnose instructional needs and identify research-based instructional strategies to address areas for improvement;
Models effective Math instruction.
Plans and facilitates staff professional development/professional learning communities focused on research-based instructional best practices
Meets regularly with school administrators and teachers to review ongoing practices for improvement.
Attends professional development activities to maintain knowledge of coaching skills and content knowledge.
Performs related tasks as required.

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of current best teaching methods and educational pedagogy for mathematics teaching and learning
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
Ability to organize and coordinate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Qualifications Profile
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in elementary education, mathematics or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred but not required.
Must possess a current Virginia Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement.
- Must have at least three (3) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
- Must possess in-depth knowledge of current math instructional strategies.
- Must have any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels a plus.
Terms of Employment
- Salary Range: * $49,316 - 82,609 ($2,944.00 additional for Master's Degree)
- Contract: * 10 Months Employment
