MEDICAL ASSISTANT TEACHER ($2,000 Recruitment Signing Bonus)
Salary Range: $49,316 - 82,609 ($2,944 Additional for Master’s Degree)
Contract: 10 Months
Teacher will: 1) plan learning experiences for Medical Assistant and Nurse Aide courses; (2) ensure that course objectives and industry standards are accomplished for both programs; and (3) maintain records as required by the Virginia Board of Nursing and other related entities. The teacher will also supervise the Health Occupations Student Association and related clinical instruction/observation in cooperating healthcare facilities.
Hold a current, unrestricted license in Virginia or a multistate licensure privilege; have two years of experience as a registered nurse within the previous five years and at least one year of experience in the provision of long-term care facility services. Such experience may include, but not be limited to, employment in a nurse aide education program, employment in, or supervision of nursing students in a nursing facility or unit, geriatrics department, chronic care hospital, home care or other long-term care setting. Experience should include varied responsibilities, such as direct client care, supervision and education.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone. Instructs students in the use of required medical equipment and tools.
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Travels to local cooperating clinical facilities.

Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Knowledge of adult education curriculum and concepts,
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
Ability to organize and coordinate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with students.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
