CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION | ||||||||||||
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Head/Assistant Coaches must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; must have background experience, training or coursework in the particular sport; must possess receptive and expressive manual communication skills if working with hearing impaired students. Must have CPR/First Aid certificate upon hire MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan practices; supervise athletes at all times; report to Athletic Coordinator regarding accidents, equipment needs, eligibility rosters, transportation and meal requests, equipment/uniform inventory; develop team rules and enforce them in a fair and equitable manner; provide appropriate leadership/role model for athletes; safely lift and transport non-ambulatory students; other duties as outlined in the coaches' manual SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS: In the event the school's transportation department is unable to provide transportation, the coach(es) may be assigned the responsibility of transporting the team to an away contest in school vehicles. Must utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required Must be able to pass FBI and State background check, Defensive Driver Training Program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on State business, High School Head and Assistant Coaches require NFHS (National Federation of High Schools) Coaches Education certification, High School Head Coaches require a valid Arizona Dept. of Education certificate in Athletic Coaching, Elementary, Secondary, or Special Education, Must be able to pass post offer physical, ASL (American Sign Language) skills if working with deaf or hard of hearing staff/students, All coaches require current CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), First Aid, and Crisis Intervention Training or certification SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION: This position requires pre-employment drug testing and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of employment. |
